A Drop of Fred” was written by Robert Butler and Graeme Henderson from an idea by Graeme Henderson.

It was first performed at the Edinburgh Festival in 1992.

In the classic Hollywood tradition “A Drop of Fred” used great tap to tell a great story. This was Graeme’s first venture combining theatre with tap – an exciting and recurring theme throughout his work.

Set in Liverpool, it tells the story of hapless, talentless dreamer Simon Wishart. On the death of his hero Fred Astaire, Simon recalls a life of failed attempts to become a great tap dancer – or even a half-decent one. The thrilling climax is when Simon dances with the assistance of his spiritual guide, Fred himself.

“A Drop of Fred” brought together superb acting skills and jaw-dropping tap.
